Nusa Penida Miliki Rumput Laut Langka di Dunia

Nusa Penida, sebuah pulau kecil yang terletak sekitar sepuluh mil laut tenggara Bali, wilayah pantainya tercatat sebagai “museum” rumput laut langka di dunia.

Rumput laut jenis spinosum, merupakan species tumbuhan perairan langka, yang di Indonesia hanya terdapat di kawasan pantai Nusa Penida, ungkap beberapa petani rumput laut di Pantai Toya Pakeh, Nusa Penida, Rabu.

Menurut petani, sejumlah peneliti baik dari IPB Bogor maupun Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Udayana (Unud), bahkan dari luar negeri, acap kali menyebutkan kalau spinosum merupakan species langka.

Para peneliti juga sering mengaku bersyukur species langka itu masih bisa tumbuh subur di kawasan pantai Nusa Penida yang tergolong belum banyak “di lanyah” pendatang atau kepentingan wisatawan.

Berbeda dengan kawasan pantai Pulau Dewata yang sengaja “dijual” untuk para wisatawan, nyaris tidak ada lagi yang “perawan”, apalagi dengan rimbunnya rumput laut.

I Putu Balon (36), petani rumput laut yang juga pemilik perahu motor sewaan, mengatakan, sesuai yang diinformasikan para peneliti, di kawasan pantai Nusa Penida selama ini ditumbuhi rumput laut dalam dua jenis, yakni spinosum dan katoni.

“Semula, sebelum para petani tahu kalau itu rumput laut langka, nyaris tak orang ada yang menggubris jenis spinosum,” ucapnya.

Namun kini, lanjut Balon, sebagian besar petani mulai memalingkan perhatiannya untuk membudidayakan spinosum, terlebih setelah harganya jauh lebih baik ketimbang jenis katoni.

Iwan Dewantara, peneliti masalah kelautan pada WWF Bali menyebutkan, dulu, petani rumput laut di Nusa Penida menjadikan katoni sebagai primadona, baik karena harganya masih cukup bagus di pasaran, maupun keberadaan species tersebut yang cukup banyak di perairan.

Namun belakangan, setelah jenis katoni mendapat saingan yang cukup ketat dari barang sejenis yang datang dari Sulawesi Tenggara, dengan sendirinya jenis ini menjadi anjlok harganya di pasaran Surabaya, Jawa Timur.

“Selama ini petani Nusa Penida ngirim barang ke Surabaya,” katanya menjelaskan.

Adventure in the afternoon: going to Nusa Lembongan

This afternoon at 4 pm after finished my work at Puskesmas Nusa Penida I ( Medical Center), me and three my nurse decided to walking around to Nusa Lembongan Island. We went to Toya Pakeh boat harbour to take a small boat to Nusa Lembongan, but when we arrived at Toya Pakeh one of my nurse cancelled to joining, he afraid with the sea waves.

When we arrived at Nusa Lembongan island, we have to leave the boat and walking to the land because the beach shallow. We borrowed two motorcycles to explore this island.

We are going around at the bridge that connected Nusa Lembongan island and Nusa Ceningan island, the bridge only fit for motorcycle.

we were walking around at the beach and taking pictures.

We found an internet access at this small island. And we are walking a round at this island villa.

They have a clean beach water, we can see the base level of the beach.

We also found a floating restaurant here.

Did I forget introduced two nurses that accompanied me walking around here?

These are two beautiful girls that accompanied me, Ayu and Juli.

Adventure in the morning

This Morning for the first time I take boat transport from Sanur Beach to my working place at Nusa Penida Island. Usually I take ferry at Padang Bai harbour, but I think it is too far from Denpasar so I try to take boat from Sanur. This boat is easy to find, go ti Bali Beah Hotel Sanur, at the beach parking place go left, down stair we will find a locket post, where we can buy the ticket. This Locket open at 7 am. and the boat leaving to Nusa Penida at 8 am. for local people the ticket is Rp. 30.000 and for tourist Rp. 60.000. It takes two hours to Toya Pakeh beach Nusa Penida (Banjar Nyuh). The Boat passing the Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan beach, we will see many beautiful sights.
